Seacoast amateur golf championship

The Seacoast’s Premier Golf Championship Since 1981

2011 Tournament

The 2011 Seacoast Amateur Golf Championship was another eventful tournament.  The rain-shortened event put a damper on the second round, but the third round provided us with a terrific finish.  This year’s event was won by Kevin Strong of Rochester Country Club with a 7-over par score of 150, who held off a strong comeback from Brian Schindler of The Oaks Golf Links by two strokes.

The Tony Loch Trophy was won by Tony Fournier of Portsmouth Country Club, his first Senior Championship, with a fifteen over par score of 158.

Portsmouth Country Club three-peated, taking home the Kay Stulb Trophy, for the Team Championship portion of the tourney, with a score of 458.  Cochecho Country Club were the runner-ups with a score of 460.

Portsmouth Country Club played host to the first round and the leaders after the first round were Kevin Strong with a score of 74 followed by Joseph Cooper with a score of 75.

Round 2 at York Golf and Tennis Club was cancelled due to poor weather conditions and unplayable course conditions.  This is only the 4th time in tournament history that a round has been cancelled due to weather.

The final round was played at the Oaks Golf Links where two scores were posted at even par or better with Brian Schindler shot an even par 71 and Codi Daudelin came in with a score of 1 under 70.  But the story was that of Kevin Strong’s undaunted short game in which he shot 76 to claim the Seacoast title by 2 strokes.

A big thank you to the New Hampshire State Golf Association for providing rules officials for the third year in a row.

Another big thank you to the Portsmouth Country Club, York Golf and Tennis Club, and The Oaks Golf Links for the use of their clubs, and to the club volunteers.

As always without the support of our sponsors we would not have a tournament.  Please support them when you have an opportunity and visit their websites on our sponsor’s page.

The  Seacoast Amateur Golf Championship is pleased to announce that the 32nd championship will be played at The Ledges Golf Course on June 22, Cochecho Country Club on June 23, and Pease Golf Course on June 24.
